Hong Kong

At some point in the near future, I guess we won't have these amazing jobs that let us take off for the Summer and have a big vacation. But! Let's not think about that just yet.

For a second year in a row, we embarked on a European adventure. We flew Cathay Pacific especially so we could have a stop over in Hong Kong. There are a few Asian cities we have left to conquer - and Hong Kong is now off that list.

We spent 2 days there exploring Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. We stayed in Kowloon in a handy location to the markets. Hong Kong is fantastic. Worth the hype in my opinion. Kowloon has your 'Chinese feel' of a crowded hustle and bustle , signs hanging over the streets and tempting food smells wafting here and there. And then Hong Kong Island feels modern and 'big city' - yet different to the other big Asian cities we have visited. You could feel the flavour of Asia, but the British influence is evident in the architecture and greenery amongst other things.

And who knew Hong Kong had beaches!!?? As Kiwi 'Beach Snobs' - we were both quite impressed with the beaches! The weather was perfect for beach bumming, but we were on a mission to see as much as we could in 2 days..... no time to relax just yet! Although we were happy the sun was out, the heat coupled with the humidity was suffocating. We made many trips inside shops and malls just to temporarily get some relief.

I would definitely recommend Hong Kong to visit. Mind the heat and enjoy the shopping and food. Oh, and the beaches if you are there in the sun!
